"I found the experience of teaching production coordination to be one of the most satisfying experiences of my career. The FITP allowed instructors to tailor classes based on our individual experiences of working in the industry. I was able to pass on to my students the tools they need to grow and thrive as film and television professionals."

AERIAL LIFT CERTIFICATE TRAINING COURSEFor graduate trainees who are considering working professionally in grip, lighting, set dressing, set construction, property and sound, the Film Industry Training Program (FITP) provides the opportunity to obtain an Aerial Lift Certificate. This certificate is required by The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to operate scissor and boom lifts, commonly used equipment in the film industry. The Aerial Lift Training Course is exclusive to Connecticut resident film and digital media professionals and FITP graduate trainees. The course involves 4-5 hours of classroom and practical experience using aerial lift equipment. Click here for an outline of the course. Classes involve approximately 10-15 persons and are organized during each summer FITP or whenever there are enough applicants to make up a class. If you would like to attend the next Aerial Lift Training Course, please email info@ctfilmworkforce.com. The course fee is $100, with $50 paid by the FITP. The course is taught by Adam Drummond of National Safety Services of Newtown. An Aerial Lift Certificate is also a prerequisite for IATSE Local 52 membership, the union that represents the professional crafts listed above. Most FITP instructors are members of this union. Graduates who desire to work professionally at this level should consider applying for Local 52 membership. For details, go to www.iatselocal52.org, select "Announcements and News," and click "Application Process."
